The Influences of Climatic and Lithological Factors on Weathering of Sediments in Humid Badland Areas

Climate variables including temperature, rainfall intensity, acidity, and lithological properties are among the most important factors affecting rock weathering. However, relative contribution of these four on weathering, especially chemical is still unclear. In this study, we carried out a series weathering-leaching simulations types badland sediments under controlled conditions two levels acidity based real field data from representative weather scenarios. The main objectives 1) to explore progressive change sample surface leachate characteristics 2) reveal independent effects lithology their as well, both mechanical Qualitative analysis crack development fragmentation quantitative volume, pH, electrical conductivity, total cation anion releases together demonstrated that for investigated sediments, rain can be achieved in nature, high drying temperature obviously increases disintegration by promoting rate magnitude moisture variations (wetting–drying alterations), while intensity acid have no obvious effect. Low contributing hydrogen ions required exchanges, type with soluble minerals, all promote influence climatic weathering decreases following order: mineral composition> > acidity. Climatic modify processes way conditioned hydro-geomorphological areas. Such changes should considered direct indirect implications dynamics.
